Glamour of the Kill, a talented quartet from England, have had their debut album, "The Summoning," released on eOne Music. Their sound is defined as "post-hardcore punk," but the band, featuring lead singer Davey Richmond, brings memories of classic hardrockers Motley Crue and Kiss as much as the metal / screamo bands of today.
The band mixes it up on "The Summoning," and their music gets stronger with more listens. The strongest standout from the first strains of the opening cut, "If Only She Knew," the follow up to the single, "Feeling Alive," is the powerful drumming of Ben Thomson. His playing is aggressive, and his frequent double bass drum licks give the group a solid foundation from which to build their sound.
Several tracks feature screamo vocals ("World's End," "Dying From The Inside," and the ballsiest cut of the eleven-song set, the blistering, "Supremacy"), but the majority of the album is made up of straight ahead guitar-based rock tunes. "Here, Behind These Walls" is reminiscent of the aforementioned bands, along with other hair bands of a generation ago, including Cinderella and Ratt.
The foursome are currently working on their follow-up release, scheduled for 2013, and are on the road making the rounds to get their name out there. With time, and the continued stability of the lineup (the group has been together since 2007), expect good things from Glamour of the Kill.
