How One Company is Rethinking Fertility Options for the LGBTQ Community

Most of the LGBTQ parenting stories coming out of Hollywood are fast cuts. Andy Cohen wants a baby and — boom — before we know it, he's sharing adorable little Ben across social media, hanging out with Anderson Cooper and his bundle of joy, Wyatt Morgan, and the whole world is full of snuggly organic plush toys and rainbows. But that's rarely peoples' lived experiences. For Bundl Fertility, creating a family should be accessible to everyone, and they all look gloriously different.

Whether you're single, married, male, female, transgender, or gender fluid, Bundl has created fertility treatment plans and financial planning models that empower potential parents to build a strategy that fits their personal needs. The company's director, Travis Lairson, is part of the LGBTQ community and understands firsthand the factors that go into the fertility treatment journey.

"The entire process can be overwhelming," says Lairson. "But Bundl is here to turn that journey into one that is safe, secure, and offers peace of mind."

Bundl's name riffs on what clients hope will be their ultimate bundle of joy — a healthy, happy baby and the chance to build a family together. But it also references an innovative business model that rethinks financing by packaging multiple treatment cycles together at one reduced, upfront cost, with the ability to customize additional services such as egg donor sourcing and risk protection plans.

Sadly, most private and public insurers do not cover fertility treatment. The LGBTQ community faces further obstacles. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, "LGBTQ individuals also face heightened barriers to accessing fertility care, as they often do not meet definitions of 'infertility' that would qualify them for covered services. Transgender individuals undergoing gender-affirming care may also not meet criteria for 'iatrogenic infertility' that would qualify them for covered fertility preservation." (Iatrogenic infertility refers to infertility inadvertently induced by a medical treatment or diagnostic procedure.)

How Bundl Lowers the Cost of Fertility Treatment
Bundl offers three core packages designed to simplify and financially strategize the optimal chances of starting a family. The 1+1 Package includes intrauterine insemination (IUI), a simple procedure that puts sperm directly inside the uterus, along with an IVF retrieval and any frozen embryo transfers. Often the first attempt at impregnation, the IUI success rate may leave some potential parents disheartened, but if it works, Bundl's Success Guard refunds* 100% of in vitro fertilization (IVF) investment!

More often, egg retrievals are required for IVF, where the eggs are removed from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm, then transferred to the uterus for the remainder of the pregnancy. With so many emotions and possibilities, financing should be the least of someone's worries. For two- and three-retrieval packages, the option of Bundl Guard offers the assurance that if customers are not successful, they'll receive 100% of their principal investment back.** Bundl's Financing Fertility Guidebook offers an easy-to-follow roadmap to explore all of the possibilities. With 70% of patients requiring multiple treatments, having a plan is one step toward success.

The Chance to Win a Lifetime of Pride and Joy
For Pride month, Bundl, in collaboration with MyEggBank, Prelude Network, and Circle Surrogacy & Egg Donation, has launched a too-good-to-be-true (except it is!) giveaway: "A Lifetime of Pride and Joy" package, including a customized fertility plan and associated services supporting an individual or couple's dream to start a family. With a grand prize retail value of $75,000, the giveaway will provide the opportunity for the winner to build their own family through a customized fertility plan and associated services from each of these premier, nationally-recognized fertility service providers.

The giveaway launches June 1, with entries accepted through June 30. (Full details can be found here.)
