Beyoncé Samples Robin S on Dancey New Single
Beyoncé's new single, "Break My Soul," from her forthcoming studio album "Renaissance," samples "Show Me Love," a Robin S hit from the '90s — and it's got Robin S "trending all over the place."
Variety reported that Robin was so thrilled she gave a shout-out to Beyoncé during a June 22 appearance on UK talk show "Good Morning Britain."
"Thank you so much for giving me my flowers while I'm still alive," Robin said. "I am honored, and I'm excited to see what else can happen."
Robin declared herself ready for a collaboration with the global superstar and hopes one is possible in the future, saying, "That's always [the] dream," Vibe noted.
Saying that the sample doesn't need any more confirmation than what she hears for herself in the new track — "A singer knows her songs," Robin said — the recording artist shared how her son broke the news to her, having seen his mom go viral online.
"My son called me and he's like, 'Mom, mom, you're trending all over the place!" Robin recounted. "Beyoncé put her song out and it's 'Show Me Love' and you're trending everywhere!'"
Moreover, TMZ reported, the nod has sparked renewed interest from all sides in Robin and her work.
"Get ready to hear more of that 90s dance vibe -- Robin says her team's phones are ringing nonstop with inquiries about licensing her 'Show Me Love' master recordings for various purposes," TMZ relayed, adding that "calls are coming from ad agencies, record labels and top DJs ... and her team is frantically trying to vet the offers as quickly as possible."
"So, If you've ever doubted the Beyonce effect is a real thing, Robin can testify."
Give a listen to Beyoncé's new single, and hear for yourself.
