Lyft Fires Driver After Booting 'Drag Race' Star Aja for Kissing Boyfriend

Wednesday December 13, 2017

The car-sharing service Lyft said it fired a driver after "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Aja said she was booted from a ride for kissing her boyfriend, Gay Star News reports.

On Dec. 11, Aja's boyfriend, who goes by the name Lizard Lemon on Twitter, tweeted that he and Aja "were told to get out a Lyft for being gay" and because they shared a kiss.

An official account for Lyft responded to the tweet, asking for Lemon to formally report the incident.

Aja and her boyfriend also received a number of supportive tweets from fans.

A spokesperson for Lyft told Gay Star News this week that the driver has been "deactivated from the Lyft platform."

"We have zero tolerance for any type of discrimination on our platform, and are committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community," the spokesperson told the website. "What is being described here is against our terms of service and our values as a company.

"As soon as this incident was brought to our attention, we reached out to the passengers to offer our support," they added. "The driver has been deactivated from the Lyft platform."

Neither Aja, who will star on the upcoming "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 3," nor Lemon have responded to Lyft's statement.
