Parks And Recreation: Season Five

Fans of NBC's hilarious comedy "Parks and Recreation" have it easy. The sitcom starring SNL alum Amy Poehler is arguably one of the best written comedies on television. Now out on DVD by NBC/Universal Home Video is the complete "Parks and Recreation Season Five" DVD box set. This 3-disc set has the complete season of 22 episodes from the 2012-2013 season totaling over 8 hours of material, including 90 minutes of Bonus Features.

Although Poehler is the only actor from the series nominated for a 2013 Emmy Award, viewers cannot deny the incredibly strong and talented comedic ensemble that this half hour one-camera sit-com showcases from week to week. Season 5 finally sees Leslie Nope (Poehler) wed Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) in a mid-season climactic celebration. Their wedding scene is the sweetest bringing together of two sit-com characters, in recent memory, that I've had the pleasure of witnessing. Season 5 also has small town power couple Ben and Leslie's long distance relationship from Washington D.C.; Nope's first elected year in office as City Councilor; their work getting in the way of their wedding plans; evil in-laws; and a season finale unveiling plans for the city to impeach Nope from her beloved City Councilor throne.

The bonus features in the set are abundant with fun scenes. Highlights include: Webisodes of "Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) Presents: The Mysteries of Washington D.C.: An Investigation: By Andy Dwyer - on location with Andy"; Promos the gang shot while on location in D.C.; a hilarious PSA by figurehead Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) on the importance of hoarding bacon; P&R's clever contribution to NBC's Summer Games promos; Gag Reels; tons of deleted scenes and more. My favorite offering is an almost 9-minute long, side-splitting one-take filibuster by comedian and "Parks and Recreation" guest star Patton Oswalt. It is not to be missed.
