@ the Hasty Pudding with 'Man of the Year' Neil Patrick Harris
EDGE READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Last Friday Neil Patrick Harris took time off from rehearsals of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (due to open on Broadway this Spring) to accept the Hasty Pudding Theatricals 2014 Man of the Year Award on the stage of the Harvard theatrical society's Cambridge stage.
Like Helen Mirren, this year's Woman of the Year who visited the same stage last week, Harris was roasted by members of the theatrical troupe, who were premiering their 166th show that evening.
Beginning with some barbed jabs at Harris's television and movie career, the stage antics included Harris pouring slop into a stand-in for his "How I Met Your Mother" co-star Jason Segel (a previous Man of the Year); being visited by Harold and Kumar; and donning a bra, wig and ruby high-heels and kissing two of the show's drag showgirls.
Upon getting the award - a gold pot - Harris quipped that he's held plenty of pot over the years, but none quite as shiny.
Following the roast, Harris spoke to the press, where he commented on the final season of hit CBS sit-com, how he's getting under Hedwig's skin as the rock musical goes into its final round of rehearsals, and showed the audience a magic trick.
Below is a video of the press conference.
