'Liza & Alan' Together for the First Time in Ptown

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Liza Minnelli and Alan Cumming have a lot in common. Not only do both love to act, sing, and perform but they also both owe practically their entire careers to the musical "Cabaret." Liza won an Oscar for the 1978 movie version of the musical and Alan won a Tony 20 years later for the 1998 revival at Studio 54 (a place that Liza was more than a little bit familiar with). Now is the first time you get to see the two do songs from the ground-breaking show together!

New York's nightlife impresario, Daniel Nardicio and the Crown & Anchor are bringing both sensational singers to the Paramount stage for the first time ever when the two perform live at the Crown & Anchor on Monday, August 4th. This is a transferral of their two sold-out shows in Fire Island's historic Ice Palace nightclub, a celeb-studded affair that the New York Times called "arguably the biggest cultural event on Fire Island this Summer." Everyone who missed out on the biggest installment of Nardicio's Icon Series will see why the crowds were on their feet after every song and chanting both Liza and Alan's names.

Not only will these incomparable stars be duetting on familiar songs from "Cabaret" but Alan will be doing his own renditions of songs by everyone from Cold Play to Annie Lennox as well as getting laughs for the witty lyrics in his own original tunes. Liza, of course, will dip into her repertoire of songs that made her famous and songs that she made famous both on screen and at her most recent hit Broadway show Liza's at the Palace. (Maybe this time she'll do "Maybe This Time"? No, definitely this time!) While both captivate an audience, it's when these two old friends interact together on stage together (sharing stories, songs, and quippy banter) that the show really comes to life.
