Security Precautions In Poland For Cross-Dresser's Concert

Authorities in southern Poland have banned music fans from bringing glass bottles and metal objects to a concert of the bearded cross-dressing Austrian diva Conchita Wurst.

Wurst, who won last year's Eurovision Song Contest, is performing her hits and covers on Saturday at the sixth annual "Coven" festival in the city of Kielce. For the first time security precautions are being taken. The concert also includes Polish music stars and will be broadcast live on state television.

The appearance of the bearded brunette, born Tom Neuwirth, at the Eurovision contest shocked many in the predominantly conservative Poland, which has no special laws addressinggayrights. But her talent and personality have brought her an invitation to perform in Kielce.
