Cyndi Lauper Wasn't a Fan of Madonna's Women's March Speech

Stopping by "Watch What Happens Live!" Wednesday, Cyndi Lauper told Andy Cohen she wasn't a fan of fellow pop icon Madonna's controversial speech she delivered at the Women's March Saturday in Washington, D.C.

After drawing ire from conservatives, including Newt Gingrich, Lauper criticized Madonna's anti-Donald Trump speech, where she said she thought "an awful lot about blowing up the White House."

"I don't think that it served our purpose," Lauper said. "Anger is not better than clarity and humanity. That is what opens people's minds."

The "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer lauded Scarlett Johansson's speech at the Women's March, where the actress discussed her experiences with Planned Parenthood.

"It was clear, it was eloquent," Lauper said. "Yelling just jacks people up. It doesn't communicate any kind of humanity or story that would open another person's mind."

Madonna has since defended her speech, saying her words were "taken wildly out of context." Nevertheless, it was reported this week a Texas radio stationbanned the Material Girl's music from its airwaves because of her lack of "patriotism."
