This week, the Southern Poverty Law Center-designated anti-LGBTQ hate group Liberty Counsel is exporting their brand of intolerance to Romania with defiant Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis as the opening act. The move comes as Romania is poised to have a referendum to ban marriage equality in the Eastern European nation.

According to Liberty Counsel's blog, more than three million Romanian citizens signed a petition demanding a nationwide referendum banning same-sex marriage in the nation's constitution. The petition was unanimously approved by Romania's Constitutional Court and is now awaiting final approval in the Senate before the referendum can take place.

During their nine-day visit, Davis and Liberty Counsel's Vice President of Legal Affairs Harry Mihet will be holding conferences in Romania's cities to monger fear that same-sex marriage will lead to religious persecution.

Davis and Mihet have already met with two Archbishops of the Orthodox Church and are scheduled to meet with other religious leaders.

Liberty Counsel claims that over 50,000 live viewers have watched their conferences on social media channels.
