Marrowbone
Ken Tasho READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The family-in-crisis horror film has seen its share of blockbuster past successes in the form of "Poltergeist" and "The Conjuring. " It's been quite a while seen a release in that rare genre has come forward to challenge others but arriving now is "Marrowbone".
This straight to Blu-ray release features a family in peril after their mother has recently deceased. It's 1969 and three siblings vow to live in the sprawling manor they shared with the matriarch of the family. This all follows a quite lengthy prologue where the audience gets teasers about the father of the family and what happened in the past.
Soon, the various siblings come into contact with another presence, one that lives in the spooky attic. From here, "The Secret of Marrowbone" (the film's former title) comes to fruition after many atmospheric scenes and a plot that becomes a bit convoluted at times. However, it's definitely worth a viewing or two to grasp the many plot twists and turns.
"Marrowbone" has actor Charlie Heaton from the hit Netflix series "Stranger Things" as one of the main sibling characters. He does a fine job in a lead role...he may become the leading male scream queen of all that is horror in future films.
Special features are typical fare of Blu-rays but enjoyable regardless:
"Deleted/extended scenes"
"Behind the Scenes of Marrowbone"
"Marrowbone Visual Effects Reel"
"Marrowbone"
Blu-ray
