Watch: After Coming Out, JoJo Siwa Says Her House was 'Swatted'

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

YouTube and social media sensation JoJo Siwa came out as a member of the LGBTQ community last week (she hasn't opened up about how she identifies), but the happy occasion was tainted, thanks to Internet trolls, who "swatted" the 17-year-old star, New York Daily News reports.

"Swatting" is a "criminal harassment tactic of deceiving an emergency service into sending a police and emergency service response team to another person's address," Wikipedia writes.

Siwa spoke about the incident in a video posted to Instagram by her videographer Nate Javier.

"Our house got swatted. We were at our house and, all of a sudden, there was a whole bunch of police telling us to come outside the house. And we didn't know why," she said. "We went outside, hands up like you have to. The police were saying that somebody had called and made a claim and then all of a sudden paparazzi came around the corner. It's called swatting, where the media will actually call the police so that way you have to come out outside your house."

Though there is no word as to who was responsible for the swatting, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told the website Insider that police responded to an incident in the area Siwa lives on Saturday. It was around the same time she was on Instagram Live to talk about her coming out, and to thank fans for the support she's received.

Footage of the incident surfaced on YouTube, which shows Siwa wearing the same clothing as in her coming out video. It also shows authorities are in her home.

"I feel bad because there was about 50 police outside my house and those police could have had much better time spent somewhere else actually helping somebody instead of dealing with a fake claim from paparazzi," Siwa said. "Literally just come ring my doorbell, paparazzi. I'll wave to you from my window."

Below, watch Siwa talk about the incident as well as footage of authorities in her home.
