Ellen DeGeneres Says Ego Was Hit Hard By 'Getting Kicked Out of Show Business'

The Queen of Nice Ellen DeGeneres is back in the limelight with a new stand-up routine and tour titled "Ellen's Last Stand...Up Tour."

And in the tour, the former daytime talk show host is reportedly wasting no time in addressing the toxic workplace scandal that led to her ending her show.

As reported by Rolling Stone, DeGenerous told an audience at the Coronet Theater in West Hollywood on Wednesday that she was "kicked out of show businesses" two times: once when she came out and the second time after the ending of the "Ellen" show in 2022. And according to her, the last time was a huge blow to her ego.

"It's been such a toll on my ego and my self-esteem," she said to the crowd. "There's such extremes in this business, people either love you and idolize you or they hate you, and those people somehow are louder."

DeGenerous admitted that she couldn't wrap her head around how her "be kind" career could end in such away. According to her, "There's no mean people in show business. The 'be kind' girl wasn't kind," she said.

"I became this one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps. Do you know how hard it is to dance up steps? Would a mean person dance up steps?" she quipped. "Had I ended my show by saying, 'Go f–k yourself,' people would've been pleasantly surprised."

At the end of the day, DeGenerous said she expects to be kicked out of Hollywood once more.

"Eventually they're going to kick me out for a third time because I'm mean, old, and gay," she said.

Is this the Ellen comeback the world needs right now?

After agreeing to lay low for awhile, Ellen said her and wife Portia de Rossi are getting back to living.

"It's hard to dance when you're crying," DeGeneres told an audience member. "But I am dancing now."

Look for "Ellen's Last Stand...Up Tour" next in San Diego, then Washington State, Oregon and the Bay Area. The tour is expected to culminate into a Netflix special.
