Jason Isaacs Won't Say Whether His 'White Lotus' Scene Involved a Prosthetic or Not

"White Lotus" star Jason Isaacs hasn't wanted to say whether his vaunted full-frontal scene on the show involved a prosthetic, decrying a "double standard" for men and women.
But creator Mike White has thoughts, Entertainment Weekly noted. The gay writer-director, who has helmed every episode of the series, opined to The Hollywood Reporter, "I think Jason wants the world to think that that's him, and so he doesn't want to admit that it's a prosthetic."
Isaac's full-frontal scene is actually a brief peek under a robe that has fallen open, scandalizing his family – including sons Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), whose own drug-fueled, incestuous adventure has fans of the show talking.
Indeed, Patrick Schwarzenegger's nude scene from the first episode offers a glance at an equally impressive prosthetic. EW recalled similar full-frontal moments from Season 2 (Theo James' character) and Season 1 (when Steve Zahn wore a fake member).
"Isaacs has not been shy in calling out what he believes is 'prurient talk about a nude shot,' and has refused to confirm whether he wore a prosthetic (although his onscreen children Sarah Catherine Hook and Sam Nivola both claim he did)," EW noted.
But Isaacs also has talked up the moment, joking that nudity "is now in my contract for every show I do..."
Still, "In an attempt to dodge the question about his full-frontal scene involving prosthetics, Isaacs monologued against the 'double standard' that male actors face when it comes to onscreen nudity," EW said. "He specifically pointed to 'Anora's' Mikey Madison and 'The Substance's' Margaret Qualley, arguing that they aren't asked to discuss their own prosthetic genitalia."
That comment sparked its own controversy, with Isaacs subsequently issuing an apology but sticking by his point that "women have been monstrously exploited and men haven't" in terms of appearing nude in front of the camera.
Isaacs, as other "White Lotus" cast members have done, talked up Mike White's "genius" for deploying sexual sizzle in his satiric depictions of self-absorbed, privileged people.
White leaned into that himself, EW noted, saying, "Yeah, showing dong is my genius," and recollecting, "When I was doing [network] TV when I was like 30, we'd go and test these pilots, and you'd have people sitting there with their little dials to show if they're interested or not. It's insane how base everyone is. You show a woman with big tits and suddenly the dial goes up."
"It's the oldest trick in the book."
The shocks and surprises for Season 3 of "The White Lotus" will gallop to a climax when the finale airs this Sunday, April 6.
